About This Quote

This is a great example of how not to be famous. Harun AlRashid was the second Caliph of the Abbasid dynasty, or medieval Islamic empire. He spent much of his reign fighting off the Persian army, defeating them at every turn. Nevertheless, he became famous for his wealth and diplomatic relationships. However, when he died in 809, he left behind much less than he had started with.
